Friends of Ballard Corners Park

Steering Committee Meeting

We had our monthly steering committee meeting tonight at the Ballard Boys & Girls Club (Thanks, Mark!).  We meet every third Wednesday from 7-9 PM; although tonight, we finished our business by 8:15.  All are welcome and encouraged to come.  In attendance were Jody and Mark Stewart, Brent Bottles, Kelly Taylor, Gabriella Moller, Davidya Kasperzyk, Rebecca Carr, and me (David Folweiler).

I briefly outlined my lobbying effort with the state legislature, most of which appears in previous blog entries.  We discussed the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods Large Project Fund Award Application.  Our plan is to apply for the ful $100,000.00 in 2007.  Rebecca has a leg up and is spearheading this effort.  She has done a first draft of the letter of intent and has generated a template that we will use in filling out grant applications.

We reviewed Jody’s latest version of the brochure.  I think that Jody will make a few tweaks and we’ll be mailing it out soon.  We hope to schedule a community meeting soon with Barker’s refinements on the design and will include an invite on the brochure when we mail it out.  We agreed to mail it to the area closest to the park – one carrier route bounded by 15th, 20th, 60th, and 65th.

Attendees walked away with free T-shirts and buttons.

Thanks to all who attended.  We invite all our neighbors to come.  Please help us build Ballard’s newest park!
